Gospel Duo Launches Campaign To Help St. Vincent And The Grenadines After Huge Volcanic Explosions Desolated The Island
New York, NY – Melody & Harmony has launched a global Fundraising campaign to aid those impacted by the La Soufrière volcano eruptions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. On April 9 and April 12, 2021, the La Soufrière volcano erupted, spewing clouds of ashes more than 6 miles in the air. The volcanic explosions and accompanying ash fall devastated the island and resulted in the displacement of over 20,000 residents, wiped out one-third of the island’s agricultural production (a loss of about $160 million US dollars), the island is covered in 30-centimeter thick layer ash, and there is limited access to necessities, such as food, clean water, and shelter. St. Vincent and the Grenadines is in crisis and needs our help in its “midnight hour of need” to clean up and rebuild after such a catastrophic event.
All proceeds raised through the Melody & Harmony Unite & Rebuild SVG Relief Fund will go directly to two organizations: The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and Camp Layou to provide immediate humanitarian relief supplies and recovery aid to the people of St. Vincent and The Grenadines affected by this catastrophic event.

“The level of destruction that has befallen this beautiful country and the widespread disruption caused by this event, will forever be etched in my mind. The devastating impact of this event on thousands of people is undeniable,” said Didier Trebucq, UN Resident Coordinator.
“Across our land, the faces of men and women are strained and anxious. They’re hurting badly…My country is facing a monumental challenge of humanitarian relief.” Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves told the U.N. Security Council as he made a heartfelt plea for international help for his country to aid in the recovery from the La Soufrière volcanic eruptions.
