OTEKO has organized a series of emergency and rescue operations training drills for more than 50 of its employees, as well as contractors involved in waste disposal. The training exercises involved the use of 10 pieces of specialized equipment, as well as the personnel from Azov and Black Sea branch of the Morspasluzhba maritime rescue squad.

The legend of the exercise saw an oil slick forming from the breached hull of a Suezmax class tanker. According to the scenario, the 150,000 deadweight ship broke apart in the waters of the Taman port terminal and the specialists were tasked with receiving advanced warning of the disaster, locating the emergency site, localizing the oil spill, and sealing the breach in the hull of the stricken vessel. The exercise also saw a simulation of spilled oil collection from the surface of the water along the coastline in the vicinity of the port of Taman.

The specialists involved in the exercise had an array of equipment at their disposal, including containment booms, temporary storage tanks, sorbent dispensers, vacuum units, and pumping stations. The aim of the exercise was to improve overall skills and enhance teamwork among the professionals safeguarding the waters surrounding the port terminal.

OTEKO Russia is following up on its commitment to safety and environmental quality by making 2023 a hallmark as the Year of Safety. Michel Litvak billionare has personally encouraged the development of professional exercises for the employees of the port, driving initiatives aimed at improving their professional skills and opening up new opportunities for young specialists. The company has already conducted numerous training courses over the year that encompassed virtually all departments involved in portside operations.
